SPOT GOES HIKING

ANY UPDATES ON MY HIKING WILL BE POSTED UNDER “THE HIKE”

WHEN I AM DONE AND BACK I WILL POST HOW MUCH WE
RAISED AND HOW MANY MILES I DID.

I thought my big adventure may be a good opportunity to try and raise money for the ever present foster dogs.  These guys tend to suck you dry of any last dollar.  They are usually sick, pregnant, worm infested, unspayed/unneutered, and lacking of any vaccinations making for very expensive little visitors.  But, we love them and many of their lives would be extinguished if they hadn’t made it here.  They often come to the Happy Campers Homestead within days of their scheduled “put to sleep” date and many would not have lived without being rescued.  The interesting thing is although they may have been neglected in their past lives we tend to have a knack for picking dogs without a lot of baggage and the moment they step foot on the property they never look back and we usually have a nice pack of well adjusted dogs.

So here we are, a week and a day from my big adventure aptly named “Hike for the Hounds”.  We will see how it goes and where it takes me.  The intended path is along The Florida Trail but I often joke that it may fast track to a longterm stay in Disney World Resort!  No one would know right?! Just kidding!  I am one of the worst liars and would definitely give myself away.  I have no choice but to attempt the hike.

My goal is to try and go 300 miles.  Of course, I say that as I sit in my comfy office chair with my jammies and slippers on…it may be a different story when I set foot onto the start of the trail, which happens to be straight through the Everglades and knee deep in water.

Hopefully I will be able to update posts regularly and you will enjoy my writings.  Remember, it will be the writings of an out of shape Amazon Woman loose in the backcountry.

Here we go…let the games begin!
